Is Your Dog Trained?
It is a beautiful picture to watch an obedient dog at a handler's side; it could be in a park, on a sidewalk, or in a store. There is a camaraderie being demonstrated. It is completely different from the individual chasing his dog around the park because it's time to leave and the dog is not ready to go - possibly having to open the car door to get your pal back? Which picture reminds you of your dog? The dog should follow, not lead. Are you the leader?
Every dog, like every individual, has its own unique
personality. Not all dogs have the same drives and
temperaments. What works with one, does not necessarily
work for another. What mixture of praise, rewards and
corrections will most stimulate and maximize your dog's
potential? The breed and/or combination of breeds
determine the makeup of the individual dog. Unfortunately
people do not look closely enough at the natural instincts
of the breed before selecting a pet. Training in a dog's life
is better earlier, but sooner is still better than never. It is
a pet owner's responsibility to train his/her dog or have
his/her dog trained. A well-trained dog has a proud gait, attentively
watching the handler with its head held high and its tail
wagging. Dogs love obedience. Often, a dog will calm down
as a result of obedience training. He will enjoy learning
while being praised and rewarded by you. It should be
fun.
Your time and patience will be well rewarded. It is
quite an experience to walk a well-trained dog. It is like a
fine piece of machinery, or timepiece at your side,
something to be proud of and show off. An obedient dog
goes more places it's easier and more fun for all. I have been training dogs over 30 years. I've aided
many people helping with top working dogs from around
the world. I am also experienced with protection work for
police and schutzhund-trained dogs. If the reason your dog stays home is because he
doesn't listen, let me help. Share a trained dog with your
family. I would be happy to work with your dog and you.
